The contact’s daughter rented a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, after driving over a small imperfection in the roadway, there was an abnormal scraping sound coming from underneath the vehicle. The driver pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway. After a visual inspection, the contact observed that the exhaust mounting bracket had disconnected. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic by the rental company, and the vehicle was repaired; however, the contacts daughter was not provided with the diagnostic results. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 29,000.
