The contact owns a 2021 Honda HR-V. The contact stated while entering a parking space, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly and jumped over a curb. The brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond and drove towards a building. The contact was able to steer the vehicle away from the building, and the vehicle crashed into the side of a tree. The air bags did not deploy. There was no injury sustained. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an autobody repair shop, where it was repaired. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. Additionally, the contact stated while at a complete stop and releasing the brake pedal to drive, the failure recurred, nearly causing the vehicle to hit an electric pole. The contact was able to steer the vehicle away from the electric pole, and the contact pulled to the side of the road temporarily. The contact stated while at a complete stop, the failure recurred, causing the vehicle to hit the rear driver’s side end cap of another vehicle that was making a left turn. The air bags did not deploy. No police report was filed. The bumper of the contact’s vehicle was damaged. The contact sustained soreness on the back but did not seek medical assistance. The contact stated that the failure had recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.
