Tailgate got water in it. Continues to open repeatedly, user cannot stop it. Same part is recalled on 2500 HD and 3500 HD models. However, Silverado 1500 models (with the same tailgate switch part) are not currently covered by recall. This results in dead battery, open tailgate on the road — and contents of bed spilling onto highway. Vehicle further stalls due to electrical draw, causing total loss of usage, including brakes, steering, etc. I have video of the tailgate triggering and opening on its own.
