The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated while shifting from second to third gear. The contact stated that over time the failure became more frequent with the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and a transmission software update was performed; however, the failure returned two days after the update. The dealer later determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance.
