The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle independently accelerated. Additionally, the vehicle would not shift into the intended gear while the gear lever was being operated. The service transmission warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
