The Multi Media Interface (MMI) in my 2020 Audi A4 spontaneously reboots while driving. This problem is intermittent but can happen numerous times during a single trip in the car, even trips of less than 10 miles. When the reboots happen, the screen goes black and key systems such as the backup camera, rear obstacle detection, and navigation become unavailable until the reboot completes and the systems reload. Restoring functionality requires user input to get through the loading screens. The issue started in 2024 and the Audi dealership was notified by me on 19 Apr 2024, but they could not replicate the issue and found no ‘fault codes’. There are numerous TSBs (filed with NHTSA) that point to available software updates that should be applied to address infotainment-related issues. The problem continued and I asked the dealer to re-examine it on 27 Mar 2025, but they would not perform diagnostics unless I paid a significant labor charge (since the car is now out of warranty), so I declined. This appears to be a widespread issue based on the numerous reports found on online user forums, affecting the same model year vehicles. (For multiple examples, refer to [XXX] .) Most of the users experiencing this issue have similar software versions, and likely similar production dates. This should be considered an important safety issue, as the reboots can happen in the middle of a reverse parking maneuver, and they render the backup camera and obstacle detection sensors completely inoperative until the system reloads. They also impact safety on the highway, as the reboots completely disable the navigation screens and require multiple user input to restore while driving. Relevant TSB numbers include TSB 2067021, TSB 2076404, TSB 2069112. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
