2012 Infiniti G25x: Occupancy sensor failed (diagnostic code B1018) around 132,000 miles. This is a common problem with Infiniti cars. Apparently for 2007 and 2008, there were recalls, but this problem continued into later years with no recall. The cost I was quoted to repair this (replacing the entire passenger seat) was $5,000, which is not practical for a 12 year old car. Although I haven’t been able to get an exact answer, it seems that this failure not only shuts off the front passenger airbag, but the entire SRS system (all airbags and all pretensioners) — I haven’t been able to get a definite answer from multiple dealers that I contacted or from the Infiniti national customer service. Otherwise, the car has been the most reliable car I ever owned, but there should be at least some compensation for this problem which has existed for a number of years.
