The contact owns a 2019 Genesis G70. The contact stated that while driving 45-50 MPH and merging onto the highway, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle jerked and failed to respond while the RPMs increased. The contact exited the highway and continued driving at a slow speed. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times while driving and exceeding 30 MPH. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V528000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); and related the failure to the recall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the engine control module software update was performed; however, the contact stated that while driving from the dealer’s parking lot, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer; however, the dealer informed the contact there was no earlier availability to diagnose the vehicle. The dealer referred the contact to Napleton’s West Palm Beach Hyundai (2301 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33409), where it was diagnosed that the failure was related to the GDI fuel pump. The second dealer informed the contact that the recall repair was not performed correctly and referred the contact back to the first dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer attempted to contact the first dealer, but the first dealer had been unreachable. The manufacturer had not provided any further assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 45,980.
