I was driving my pickup to my farm. I was on a 4 lane divided highway, when i pulled into the left turning lane my pickup just randomly said ‘press Start/Stop button’ so I stupidly did. The vehicle then shutoff or was already shutoff, I am not sure. There was no warning sign, dash lights, or weird engine noises. I would later learn the engine just blew up. The vehicle would not refire and I was forced to sit in the turning lane for 5 hours waiting for a tow truck. The highway was very busy and vehicles were buzzing past me constantly. Not a safe place to be at all! I could not get the vehicle into neutral or remove the parking brake. Multiple highway patrol officers stopped to help me and try to get the vehicle into neutral so we could pull it off the side of the highway to no avail. I crawled underneath the vehicle and disconnected the drive shaft, but then had no way of removing the parking brake. After many hours of waiting a tow truck showed up and my 1 year old pickup was drug onto it skidding the rear tires. The engine had around 12,000 miles. The vehicle went to a GM dealership for 4 weeks and got a new engine installed.
