I am reporting a serious safety concern with my 2024 Chevrolet Trax, purchased on [XXX]. Within three weeks, I experienced a malfunction where the infotainment screen began glitching, and the audio volume surged to maximum without warning. I was unable to control the volume or turn off the system, forcing me to pull over and restart the vehicle to stop the distraction. This issue has recurred multiple times, creating a significant distraction and making me feel unsafe while driving. The loud, uncontrollable audio and erratic screen behavior divert my attention from the road, increasing the risk of an accident. I reported the problem to the dealership in June 2024. They acknowledged the issue but stated that no fix was available as GM had not developed the necessary software update. I was advised to wait for an update. Throughout the winter of 2025, the problem worsened. Despite repeated inquiries, the dealership informed me that no solution was available. In April 2025, I returned the vehicle to the dealership, but they still could not resolve the issue. The service manager recommended I report the problem to the NHTSA and contact GM customer service. I did so on April 11, 2025, and a case was opened. However, as of today, there is still no resolution. This ongoing problem is more than an inconvenience; it poses a safety risk by creating a distracting and uncontrollable environment while driving.
