On 12.27.24, the vehicle lost motive power while traveling through a busy and dangerous intersection and coasted to a stop. It was towed to a GM Dealership where it was determined that the engine had seized as it wouldn’t crank. The serpentine belt was also noted to be atypically damaged as if it wasn’t riding evenly / correctly on the pulleys. The vehicle may be available for inspection but as of this date, repairs have been authorized… so availability may change. The dealer will likely retain the failed engine. The sudden loss of motive power is always potentially dangerous. In my situation, I could have been unable to move out of a busy intersection and been subject to cross-traffic collision. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer but has not been further inspected by anyone other than the dealer. No warning indicators occurred that led me to believe their was an impending issue with the powertrain / engine.
