The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted from 5th gear to 3rd gear. The contact stated that occasionally, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. In addition, the instrument cluster had displayed a black screen. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed molded lead frame control module. The contact was informed that the molded lead frame control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under recall or special programs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 156,000.
