Описание:
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the Service 4WD warning light was flashing and had become constant. The contact stated that while accelerating to make a right turn from a stop light at approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle stalled. There were clicking and popping sounds coming from the transmission. The failure was brief before the vehicle self-corrected, and the contact was able to continue driving. The contact stated that while in a School’s pick-up line with stop-and-go traffic, the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle lost power. The contact shifted to park, restarted the vehicle, and continued driving. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic, who diagnosed that the power transfer unit (PTU) had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired due to the replacement part being on backorder. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
