Dear Sir, JLR is purposefully delaying repairing our cars, replacing the battery. They reduced our charging capacity to 80% as part of the H514 recall to avoid battery fires which makes the car unusable for long drives. Now as part of the recall H536, they are purchasing our vehicle at KBB value as of October 2024 which is low balling us. Car prices have taken major hit because of the battery issues/recall. I have a question relating to Recall 24V-633/H536. On your website the status is listed as: Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available. The Jaguar recall website lists the status as: Repair Description: As a final remedy, JLR will reacquire vehicles from affected customers. It is reported that Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is offering customers a buyback amount based on Kelley Blue Book (KBB) valuations as of 18 Oct 2024. This is the date that H536 was made public. However, on page 12 of your publication titled, ‘Motor Vehicle Safety Defects and Recalls: What Every Vehicle Owner Should Know’, it states the following: ‘In the case of a vehicle recall, the manufacturer may choose to repair the vehicle at no charge; replace the vehicle with an identical or similar vehicle; or refund the purchase price in full, minus a reasonable allowance for depreciation.’ Question: If your stated remedy requires a manufacturer to ‘refund the purchase price in full…’, how is it that JLR is allowed to remedy this unresolveable safety hazard with something other than full purchase price? Please provide details that include statutes if applicable. Thank you for your speedy response. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
